Dentist Near Britannia

Convenient Access from Britannia

From the escarpment above the Elbow River, a 7-minute drive brings Britannia residents to Ultima Dental Wellness in Kingsland. We are a family practice with three dentists in southwest Calgary, and for many homeowners on these quiet streets we are a convenient dentist near Britannia with implants, crowns and root canals all in-house. Free parking makes each visit straightforward.

Starting by Britannia Slopes, at the edge of the community on Elizabeth Rd SW, go east and follow Crescent Blvd SW south to 47 Ave SW. Take 47 Ave SW to Elbow Dr SW and continue south, then turn east on 54 Ave SW and south on 4 St SW. From there, Macleod Trail carries you south to 71 Ave SW, where a right turn finishes the trip. All told it is about 3.8 km, roughly 7 minutes.

The office is at 506 71 Ave SW #202, and our Google Maps listing gives turn-by-turn directions from your door. Elbow Drive, the community's eastern edge, starts you on the way south. Neighbors in Elboya and Windsor Park finish the trip the same way, down Macleod Trail, which does slow down at rush hour.

Long Roots in Britannia, Long-Term Care at Ultima

Britannia is one of the smaller communities in the inner southwest. Lots went on sale in 1952, and the area was essentially built out by 1956, with streets carrying royal-themed names such as Britannia Drive, Coronation Drive, Crown Avenue and Imperial Way. Single-detached homes make up nearly all of it, and most are owner-occupied.

The age profile here is noticeably older than the city's as a whole. In a settled, owner-occupied community like this, many patients want a practice they can rely on for the next twenty years, not a one-time fix.

Ultima fits that pattern. The practice began more than thirty years ago as a solo family office and has grown into a new generation of family dentists led by Dr. Richard Krim. You can expect the same team at each visit and a chart that follows your mouth through every stage of life.

Appointments run Monday through Friday, with an early 7:00 AM start on Thursdays and later finishes at 6:00 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. That spread gives retirees and working homeowners a workable choice of times without juggling the rest of the day.

The setting is part of the appeal. Britannia Slopes runs along the top of the escarpment with trails and river access, and Sandy Beach Park sits nearby on the Elbow River below. When it is time for a checkup, the office is a short drive away.

When Decades-Old Dental Work Needs Attention in Britannia

Teeth that have served well for fifty or sixty years carry the marks of it. Large old fillings can crack the tooth around them, enamel wears thin from grinding, and gums recede to expose softer root surfaces. None of this is unusual, but each one is easier to manage when it is caught early.

A crown is often the best way to protect a tooth that has been weakened by a large filling or a crack. It covers the tooth and spreads biting forces more evenly, which lowers the chance of a split that cannot be repaired. Our digital intraoral scanner captures the shape of the tooth without a tray of impression material.

When a tooth is already gone, an implant is a strong long-term replacement. Ultima places and restores implants in-house with CBCT 3D planning, so the whole process stays in one office with one team. Whether an implant is right for you depends on your bone and gum health, which is checked first.

Healthy gums underpin all of this. Professional cleanings and biofilm management use EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy to clear plaque from around crowns, bridges and implants, where a toothbrush often misses.

Cosmetic goals do not end at retirement. Plenty of patients in their sixties and seventies want a brighter smile for a family wedding or simply for themselves. Whitening, bonding and veneers are all possible, and each plan accounts for existing crowns and fillings, which do not change color when natural teeth are whitened.

Restoring and Refreshing: A Dentist Near Britannia

  • Cosmetic Dentistry

Whitening, bonding and porcelain veneers can freshen a smile that has darkened or chipped over the years. Cosmetic bonding patients leave the same day with a noticeably improved smile.

  • Implant Dentistry

Implants replacing one tooth or several are planned with 3D imaging and completed in the same office. Britannia patients avoid shuttling between a surgeon and a restoring dentist.

  • Root Canal Therapy

An older tooth with a deep crack or a failing filling may need a root canal to clear infection. It keeps the natural root in place, which helps protect the bone around it.

  • Restorative Dentistry

Crowns, bridges and new fillings to replace work that has reached the end of its life. Each restoration is matched to your bite so it wears evenly with the teeth around it.

What Our Patients Are Saying

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Ultima Dental Wellness from Britannia, and how do I get there?

It is roughly 3.8 km from Britannia Slopes, about 7 minutes by car. The route follows Elbow Drive south, then 54 Ave SW and 4 St SW over to Macleod Trail, and a right onto 71 Ave SW. Patients choosing a dentist near Britannia will find free parking when they arrive.

Can a cracked or heavily filled tooth be saved with a crown?

Often, yes. A crown covers the whole visible tooth and holds a cracked or heavily filled tooth together, which helps prevent it from splitting further. If the crack reaches below the gumline or into the root, the tooth may need a root canal first or may not be savable. An exam and imaging show which case applies.

Can I spread the cost of a larger treatment plan?

Yes. Financing is available through iFinance, and payment plans can be arranged for larger treatment. Plans are discussed in advance with our Treatment Coordinator, so the schedule is agreed before any work starts. Bring your insurance details to that conversation so the estimate reflects what your plan is expected to pay.

Can I get a cost estimate before treatment begins?

Yes, pre-treatment estimates are available on request. An estimate shows roughly what your plan is likely to cover and what you will owe. Fees follow the ADA&C fee guide. With direct insurance billing, you then pay only the portion your plan does not cover on the day.

Can I meet the dentist before committing to treatment?

Yes. New patients can book a free meet and greet to see the office, ask questions and get a feel for the team before scheduling care. If you are ready for a full assessment, the $50 New Patient Exam for new patients is a complete oral health exam with treatment recommendations you can take home and consider.
